Dann's tribute

The Stranger in YOUR Shoes
A Tribute to the 2006 Writing Class.

I know a girl who recites Julius Caesar in high heels.
She always beats me in Frisbee but I vanquis her
in Tetris, and we make fun of each other respectively.
I know a girl who, like me, is never bored: she rereads
Harry Potter six times and tries to wake me up at 3 AM
to plug the phone into the flowing-electric
wall socket, so her phone won't die in the morning. (She
is not willing to wake up herself.) But, she eats apples
the same way I do, like corn on the cob--not typewriter style
but rotisserie. She wears chain mail as she tells me
what okra is. We speak secretly in Spanish. She teaches me
French--tu est magique. I know a girl who bites
her bottom lip when she reads Lolita and pronounces it
Nuh-BAH-kov. She sits in the back row of grim and solemn
performances and stifles genuine laughter, making me laugh too.
She isn't really decomposing but when I tell her she is,
she knows to laugh. She is a fundamentalist, crazy enough to
press nutella in a waffle iron, lost in a vortex, yet
she is a poet: still sweet enough to write about
bridges, Enlightenment, and about her friends,
which includes me.
